Summary:

Publication outlets in OSCM are many and vary wildly in terms of traditions, expectations and epistemological stance.

Workshop Objective:

  • To develop and understand the various outlets in the field.
  • To understand the difference in publication expectations and writing styles for the so-called “elite” journals (Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and Operations Research) and other journals (including,e..g, IJOPM, JBL, IJPDLM, EJOR, IJPE, Transportation Research series); differences between academic journals in business and in (industrial) engineering.
  • To discuss how to develop a publication strategy.
  • To relate applied/engineering project work to academic publications.

In preparation for the workshop, it would be helpful to organize your own project and publication pipeline ahead of the workshop and bring this along.
